Ben and Austin with the Lulu

Hello Everyone and welcome to the latest episode of Knafs@Nite - our weekly video round-up where we share with you all the exciting things about Knafs and the world around us.

There's a new knife. Deep sigh. Can't say much. Read on. Must go. Excitement. WOW!

Blade Show West

While you're reading this and/or watching the latest episode, we're in Salt Lake at Blade Show West. This show is the cream of the crop for everyone on the left side of the map - and anyone traveling that way. It is literally the biggest knife show in the region and it runs from today, October 4th - through October 5th. So, two days of knifes, Knafs, and knife stuff.

Austin's Mustache

... Is epic.

The New Knife - LULU GRANDE!!!!

Launching at Blade Show West is the Large Lulu. As much as we love the Lulu, it's a smaller knife and doesn't perform the bigger things as well - like battoning wood. So, we decided to make a bigger Lulu for you you.

To get these made in the USA, we're working with L.T. Wright Handcrafted Knives from Wintersville, Ohio. These folks are less about the CNC process and more about handcrafting. That being the case, the Large Lulu isn't a production knife - it's a mid-tech knife. This means that they are hand made is small batches.

How small? 50 at a time. This means that the Large Lulu will be available from time to time but not all the time because. Each batch will take about 3 months to make.

Some specs:

  • Steel: A2 (Whoa. Seriously? That's epic)
  • Handles: Pinned Micarta Scales
  • Liners: G10
  • Sheath: Kydex

The Large Lulu is available RIGHT NOW on our site.

Quick Side Quest: A2

A2 steel is old school and still around because it's wicked tough steel. It holds a good edge and is easy to sharpen. However, being that it's not stainless, you're going to want to make sure that any knife you have with A2 is clean and dry before you stuff it back into its sheath.

The Sancho Pen

We're half-way through the campaign for our "super-high-end BIC pen". With about a week left to go, head over to Kickstarter and secure yours right now.

Moon Crew Moment

Lance Struggles with T6 Screws
Lots of knives use T6 screws. LOTS. But Lance keeps stripping his. Lance is NOT alone. Ben has a trick to help you to stop stripping the "most common screw in the universe for pocket clips".
Also - it's probably not you, Lance - but it could be your bit. Snag a new WIHA T6 bit here.
Tommy Likes Vikings (We Do Too!)
An airport in Oslo, Norway has a fantastic collection of historical knives on display. We recommend you head their ASAP and check it out.
Esteban Ponders Blade Finishes
Are you a Moondust or Black blade finish fan?
This is also a good time to plug Lynch Northwest. They make some great pry bars, clips, and scales. We happen to be partial to their Lander pocket clips.
If you want to be part of our “Moon Crew”, head right here to join up!

Ship Shape Sharpening Shop

This is a spot where Ben gets to show off the knives that come to Knafs for TLC. Every week is wilder than the last. Sometimes we even get to see Keith, our resident sharpening willard. This is a great opportunity to see what people covet and what they want to be resharpened and cleaned up by the knife maintenance gnomes here at Knafs.

*NEW SEGMENT* Product Spotlight

We're replacing the Bottom of the Barrel segment with this Product Spotlight segment. This is a chance for us to share with your our favorite products.

This week, Ben shares his love for the Bit Driver - as well as his journey in developing it.

The Sendy Its Own Song
We want to thank Pete for this catchy tune! THANKS PETE!
A Moment of Culture
Ben believes that Gushers are a good gift. He's not wrong.
Kit Cards
The folks at Grim Workshop are into survival and survival gear, but their approach is a little different and totally awesome.
General Comments
Questions about the Sancho's worldwide availability, a possible Knafs machete, Ben knows he talks a lot, and so much more - like some real nerdy planetary talk.

Send Us Some Stuff!

We love getting mail here at the office. So, if you've got something weird and wild you want to send us direct it here:

Edge of Intelligence

Each week we let AI talk the wheel and drive. Here is this week's prompt:

"If you were to create a knife that is a cross between a Cold Steel Espada XL and a Spyderco Lady Bug, what would it look like?"

The result is kind of awesome.

Field Trip

Ben heads to Knife Lounge in Hamburg, Germany. Their selection of knives is mind blowing. But that's not all they have and not all they do - check this out!

Fresh Prints

It's an Oreo Sword. We're showing you a cream-filled telescoping sword. It's strangely intoxicating.

Boom. Done!

There have you it! We really hope you got everything you expected and then some from this episode of Knafs@Nite. Make sure to subscribe to our channel on YouTube so you don't miss anything come out of the world of Knafs!
