Has it been 5 years already?!! Sweet mercy. WE announced the Banter in January 2020. And we’re now thrilled to celebrate the five year anniversary of the Banter series pocket knives with the release of the Bougie Banter EDC knife in 2025.

The Bougie Banter goes back to the roots, starting where the designer, Ben Petersen, was born in Ogden, Utah. We took the styling of the local Art Deco buildings that dot the landscape in Ogden to class-up the Bougie Banter– give it some swagger and a bit of glam.

Art Deco was all the rage in the Roarin’ 20s era and featured rare materials and exquisite craftsmanship. It drew inspiration from the styles of ancient Egypt, China, India, Japan, and more. Ever seen the Empire State building? Chrysler building? Louisiana state capitol building? Ogden High School? Art Deco.

So, just like a little railroad town in Utah slapped Art Deco on their 1930s era buildings, we slapped it on the Bougie Banter with a titanium chevron backspacer, stylized titanium pocket clip, and a whole buncha’ micromilling on the titanium handle. Titanium for daaaaays.

Did we mention the crossbar lock? Ben’s original sketches for the Banter knife included a crossbar, and this Bougie Banter is suuuuper close to that original pocket knife idea.

It has upgraded S45VN steel, and we (and WE!) threw in a little Easter egg: each chevron on the backspacer is there to represent the 31 different Banter/Baby Banter/Big Banter/Banter Fixed Blade models WE and Civivi have created. Pretty darn cool.

The handle has skeletonized steel liners, ceramic bearings, and classic titanium thumbstuds. It’s got classic Banter vibes on an upgraded chassis with white wall tires, bow ties, and cuff links. Bougie indeed.
